At a 5–8 pm event the sun sets mid-presentation; a large LED display holds its image where a projector washes out. Require wireless microphones (plural), HDMI and USB-C at the podium, and a lectern that frames the speaker rather than hiding them. Then ask the question that separates venues: "When is the AV tested?" The right answer is before every booking — not "it usually works." And ask for the Wi-Fi failover story; a venue that volunteers its redundancy has thought about your livestream before you asked.

3. The networking zone — where the actual deal flow happens

The presentation is the reason people came; the conversation afterward is the reason it mattered. Require a distinct mingling space — separate from the theatre rows — where a founder and an angel can talk for ten uninterrupted minutes. If the venue's answer is "people usually chat in the room," keep touring.

4. Food that works standing up

High tea and light refreshments outperform heavy catering at evening investor events: one hand free for the handshake. Get the per-head versus platter math in writing, confirm tea/coffee service, and ask the outside-catering policy before you fall in love with a caterer the venue won't admit.
